Large-Scale Energy Renovation

Wattrelos Project

The energy renovation project in Wattrelos represents a significant advancement in the sustainable transformation of the French housing stock. Led by Vilogia, this project has successfully rehabilitated 160 individual houses from the 1960s by applying the innovative approach EnergieSprong.

An Industrial Approach for Optimal Efficiency

The EnergieSprong method is based on the industrialization of the renovation process. After a precise 3D scan of the buildings, prefabricated insulating facades are installed on the existing structures, forming a “thermal cloak” that reduces the energy needs of the homes by 60%. Windows are replaced with double or triple glazing, a dual-flow ventilation system ensures air renewal, and rooftop photovoltaic panels cover the entire energy consumption.

  • Project: Rehabilitation of 160 occupied houses.
  • Location: Wattrelos (FR).
  • Delivered Area: 13,000 m².
  • Program: EnergieSprong
  • Partners: Vilogia, Septalie, NORTEC Ingeniérie, REDCAT ARCHITECTURE, Symoé, Rabot Dutilleul Construction, and Pouchain SAS.

Concrete Results for Residents

Thanks to this renovation, the houses have achieved an energy performance rating of level A, transforming from energy-consuming homes to residences that produce as much energy as they consume (E=0). Tenants now enjoy improved thermal and acoustic comfort, as well as reduced energy bills, without any increase in rent.

A Strong Partnership for Collective Success

This ambitious project was made possible through the collaboration of several partners, including BuildUp via Retrofitt, which provided offsite-produced facades and roofs, consisting of an airtight internal membrane, insulation, facade cladding, windows, doors, and solar panels. Other partners include Septalie, NORTEC Ingénierie, REDCAT ARCHITECTURE, Symoé, Rabot Dutilleul Construction, and Pouchain SAS.

Toward the Massification of Energy Renovation

Building on the success of this operation, Vilogia plans to extend the EnergieSprong approach to nearly 1,000 additional homes, contributing to the European goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. This innovative and replicable approach provides a concrete response to current energy and environmental challenges while improving the quality of life for residents.
